Service Status

 Update Saturday 4th April 2020

The weekly C1 Chatterbus and the C2 Saturday service are both suspended until further notice due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

We would like to thank our valiant drivers and our hugely supportive passengers who have kept with us during this difficult time.

We will keep this under review and resume the service as soon as we possibly can.

Update Saturday 28th March 2020

The weekly C1 Chatterbus service continues to be suspended but we are pleased to say we were able to run the C2 Saturday service today (28th March 2020) as normal. We will update this page when we can confirm when our next C1 (Weekly) or C2 (Saturday) service will run.

Both the C1 and C2 are under constant review and we will endeavour to run the Chatterbus where we can for those who need to travel so they can collect essential food, medical supplies or are a key worker as defined by the UK government. Click here to see government guidance.

Messages of Support

Thank you for the many messages of support from our loyal passengers. Here is a small selection of those recently received.

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear all your drivers are poorly. They are such kind, caring people and we truly send our very best wishes to them.

Please don’t think you are letting anyone down. You are possibly poorly because you are all such thoughtful people going out of your way to help everyone. As you say, these are truly extraordinary and difficult times.

Can I just take the opportunity to say thank you to all the Chatterbus drivers for the service they give us and I wish them all well

Regrettably, the Chatterbus Service has had to be Suspended

The Chatterbus has been battling to continue to run its bus service over the last few weeks despite the challenges of the Coronavirus epidemic.

This week has been especially difficult and unfortunately, we have now had to take the decision to suspend the Chatterbus Service for the time being.

We would like to thank our valiant drivers and our hugely supportive passengers who have kept with us during this difficult time.

We will resume the service as soon as we possibly can but in the meantime, please revisit our website for the latest details or subscribe to our email newsletter so we can keep you informed when the service will be able to resume.

No need for Cash. No need to have the right change.

You can now pay for your Chatterbus ticket with your Contactless Credit or Debit Card, or use your mobile phone or smart watch and pay using Apple Pay or Google Pay.

How does it Work?

  1. Board the Chatterbus and let the driver know where you want to go and how many tickets you need if you are buying for your group.
  2. The Driver will select the tickets you need and confirm the cost.
  3. Place your Contactless Card or Apple Pay/Google Pay enabled phone or watch on the contactless reader.
  4. Your Tickets are printed and charged to your account.

We still accept Cash and Concession Cards but many may find it more convenient to pay using a Contactless Card or a mobile phone or smart watch using Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Adult Fares are just £2 within a single travel zone or £3 across one or more travel zones, Children’s fares are half price. Weekly Tickets are also available. For full fare details see our Fares page.

Changes to Fares if Travelling across Zones - from 12 Aug 2019

Chatterbus is introducing "Zones" to better reflect the distance traveled and will be charging more for journeys that cross more than one zone. Fares will remain the same when the journey begins and ends within a zone and doesn't cross more than one zone.

Chatterbus Zone Map 12 Aug 2019

For example, it will cost £3 per Adult journey when traveling from Cobham Station (Inner zone) to Brooklands Retail Park (Outer zone) but only £2 per Adult journey when traveling from Cobham Station (Inner zone) to Painshill Garden (Inner zone). On a Saturday an Adult journey from Fetcham (Outer zone) to Brooklands Retail Park (Outer zone) will cost £3 as it crosses the Inner zone.

The full details of these fare changes are shown below. The map above shows where the Inner and Outer Zones operate.
